can anyone help?!?

I purchesed an earth original 2000 of ebay in Feb. I has not worked from the day it arrived.
Once, i tipped it in such a way that the power light came on. i could not repeat this. after examining the amp once more i noticed that the fuse insert was empty. i dont know anything about fuses but this one has no tube but the 2nd fuse insert(the one for the speakers) has a glass tube.
would the missing fuse keep the amp from working?
the power light flashed with no fuse before.
help?

it is possible you held the amp in such a way that light refracted throu the pilot light lense and produced an intermittant (brief) flash giving the appearance of power on /off which you can not linearly reproduce. In any case, a visual inspection of the power supply and switching would find any loose wires , connections or componets. the fuses are 2 1/2 slow blow and are nessecary to pass power to the circuts, their function is a safeguard.

help!

I opened it up and found a plastic tube that holds a spring that toutches the fuse was broken in half. I reconected this with tape and also found that the power switch box was not in its "saddle" I pushed it back in and put a fresh fuse in. I then turned it on. the lights dimmed and the power went out. I reset my homes power and tried again. this time though the power did not go out. there we sparks and a "bbzzzzztttt" sound and it smoked like crazy. I don't want to operate any more than i have. what do i do next?

you have a short. you may be able to dismantle it and look for a problem where the black residue is but the problem may actually originate somewhere else and need to be bench tested with a meter . the problem with the meter is only some of the circutry can be metered without an electrical diagram. other portions are self evident . sounds like its been needing tlc , good luck !!!!!
